A 9-day training program in Istanbul brought together 20 Uyghur youth to study global affairs, identity, and solidarity, aiming to prepare socially responsible future leaders.
A 9-day training program aimed at fostering leadership among Uyghur youth concluded in Selimpaşa, Istanbul, on August 31, 2024. Titled “International Conjuncture and National Struggle Methods,” the program was jointly organized by the Uyghur Academy Foundation and the Uyghur İlim and Marifet Foundation.
The initiative brought together 20 Uyghur participants, including university students and recent graduates, for a curriculum that ran from August 23 to 31. Sessions covered a wide range of topics, including international developments, the East Turkistan issue, cultural identity, and social solidarity.
Sixteen Uyghur researchers and experts contributed to the program, traveling from Istanbul and other cities to deliver lectures and share their expertise. Alongside presentations, the program featured Q&A sessions, group discussions, and interactive workshops, offering participants the chance to engage more deeply with the issues.
In addition to academic content, the program placed emphasis on social and cultural exchange. Recreational activities and shared experiences helped build strong bonds among participants. Language training was also included, with an American instructor providing English lessons at different levels.
Participants reported that the program strengthened their understanding of cultural identity and enhanced their motivation to act with greater social responsibility. Several described it as a turning point in both their personal development and collective awareness.
