Arfiya Eri, a Uyghur woman who was re-elected as a lawmaker in Japan in October, has been appointed Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs.
Japan's Uyghur lawmaker Arfiya Eri: "If these actions against the Uyghurs were to happen in any other region, anywhere else in the world, we would see the UN rise to stronger statements. We would see the international community rise for stronger response".
In the Japanese parliamentary elections, the ruling party candidate and current MP, Arfiya Eri, of Uyghur origin, was re-elected and won the right to continue her duties.
