The Ilham Tohti Initiative (ITI) attended the Forum 2000 Conference in Prague on 12–14 October 2025 with a Uyghur musical performance. The dance and song show by Dr. Gulzadem Tanridagli, her daughter Dolunay, and Enver Can was performed at the opening ceremony of the event. The performance, followed by an introduction of the Uyghur cause by the moderator Ivana Štefková, Member of the Board of Directors of the Forum 2000 Foundation (Czechia), was warmly welcomed and applauded by the audience. Below is a brief commentary by Daniela Monsportova, one of the organizers of the conference:
“Dear Enver, dear Dolunay, Thank you once again for your participation and wonderful performance. It conveyed a powerful message and was the best possible opening for the entire conference. Thank you!”
Mr. Enver Can, Founding President of Ilham Tohti Inititative, was also a speaker on a panel discussing Uyghur asylum seekers and transnational repression. Other panelists included Zumretay Arkin (Vice President, World Uyghur Congress), Rushan Abbas (Chairwoman of the Executive Committee, World Uyghur Congress), Nyrola Elimä (Independent Uyghur researcher), and Reyhan Eset from the Transatlantic Council.
