BBP Chairman Destici stated that Turkey’s trade deficit is entirely due to the imbalance in trade with China. He called for halting imports from China or imposing a 100% additional tariff on Chinese goods until the oppression in East Turkistan ends.
Turkey’s Great Unity Party (BBP) Chairman Mustafa Destici, during a press conference on April 9, 2025, at his party’s headquarters, discussed Turkey’s foreign trade deficit, emphasizing that it is primarily caused by the trade imbalance with China.
Destici noted that Turkey imports 44 billion dollars’ worth of goods from China, while only exporting 3.5 billion dollars to China. He said, “Nearly all of our trade deficit comes from this imbalance.”
Destici also pointed out that Turkey does not import oil, natural gas, or electricity from China, adding, “We can produce all the goods we import from China domestically or obtain them from other countries.”
He urged that imports from China be stopped and a 100% additional tariff be imposed on Chinese goods until the oppression in East Turkistan ceases.
