In Istanbul, the Uyghur housing project, being jointly build by Uyghur Ilim ve Marifet Foundation and ICNA Relief Canada Foundation, is nearing completion. The keys to the homes have been handed over to the families in need.
In Istanbul, the Uyghur housing project called “Oasis of Istanbul,” realized in cooperation with the Uyghur Ilim ve Marifet Foundation and ICNA Relief Canada Foundation, is nearing completion. A key handover ceremony was held on November 28, 2024, in front of the completed building in Selimpaşa.

The housing project was built with the financial support of ICNA Relief Canada Foundation on land belonging to the Uyghur Ilim ve Marifet Foundation in the Selimpaşa neighborhood of the Silivri district of Istanbul, under the responsibility of the Uyghur Ilim ve Marifet Foundation. The first two buildings of the six-building project, which will include a total of 96 houses, have been completed, and the remaining buildings are nearing completion.
At the opening ceremony, Ijaz Tahir, President of ICNA Relief Canada, and Habibulla Küseni, President of the Uyghur Ilim ve Marifet Foundation in Istanbul, delivered speeches. Then, twenty Uyghur families in need were handed the keys to their houses, which will be rented out at affordable prices.

RENTED AT AFFORDABLE PRICES TO THOSE IN NEED
Speaking about the purpose of the project, Küseni stated that they aim to preserve Uyghur culture, language, and traditions with this neighborhood. He also emphasized that economic and social support will be provided to Uyghur families who will live there.

The new buildings will be available for low-income Uyghur families to rent at affordable prices. In addition, two tailoring workshops and a carpet weaving factory will be established with investments from Uyghur businesspeople in the neighborhood, providing employment for unemployed Uyghurs.
UYGHURS IN SELİMPAŞA
The Uyghur Ilim ve Marifet Foundation established the Oku Uyghur Bilig Dormitory in Selimpaşa in 2015 with the support of Uyghur businessmen. This dormitory, which aims to teach Uyghur language and culture to Uyghur youth and support their education, has been continuing its activities for eight years.
Nearly a hundred Uyghur families, who wish for their children to grow up in accordance with their national identity, mother tongue, and customs, settled in called Rahat Site and around, located near the Oku Uyghur Bilig Yurdu in Selimpaşa years ago. Additionally, Uyghur businessmen have established workshops in the area to address the unemployment issue of these families.
