The International Conference on Resisting Communist China and Defending Taiwan was held in Taipei, with Uyghur representatives attending by invitation.
The International Conference on Resisting Communist China and Defending Taiwan was held in Taipei from October 1 to 4, 2025, bringing together activists from around the world who are advocating justice for their peoples under Chinese rule. Representatives from Tibet, Hong Kong, Southern Mongolia, and Manchuria attended the event, along with Uyghur representatives who participated by official invitation.
Representing the Uyghur Freedom Forum, Umut Hamit presented on the ultimate goal of the Uyghur independence movement — the establishment of an independent Uyghur Republic (East Turkistan). His presentation was met with broad recognition and appreciation. Turmuhammed Hashim, a Japan-based activist for East Turkistan’s independence, President of the Japan Uyghur Union, and board member of the Kuratake Association of Japan, also presented a detailed report. During the intermission programs, he spoke to the Taiwanese public about the ongoing genocide China is carrying out in East Turkistan.

According to Umut Hamit, the conference brought together representatives of independence movements from Tibet, Hong Kong, Southern Mongolia, and Manchuria, as well as Taiwanese academics, researchers, and numerous journalists. All participants — including the president of the China Democracy Front — expressed their respect for the Uyghur struggle and declared their full support for the Uyghur independence movement.
Yuan Hongbing: “The CCP Is the Source of 21st-Century Disasters”
Australian-based liberal scholar Yuan Hongbing, who initiated the conference, described the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) as the root cause of potential wars and humanitarian disasters in the 21st century. He emphasized the need for Taiwan to prepare for possible military and political aggression from Beijing, noting that the conference was not about abstract philosophical discussions but about developing practical, actionable strategies.

Among the proposed measures were enhancing international cooperation, establishing counter-propaganda mechanisms, strengthening intelligence coordination, and supporting democratic forces within China. Yuan stressed that all efforts would remain within legal and moral boundaries, clarifying that the conference did not promote violence but sought lawful, humanitarian, and strategic means to dismantle tyranny and safeguard freedom.
The conference also discussed the establishment of international volunteer defense units and strategic countermeasures in response to a potential Chinese invasion of Taiwan. Yuan underlined that defending Taiwan should not rely solely on diplomacy or persuasion but requires coordinated and practical preparation among Taiwan, its allies, and the broader international community.

The event was seen as an important step in strengthening cooperation among nations and liberation movements opposing China’s authoritarian regime. It also reaffirmed a shared commitment to supporting the freedom and self-determination of the peoples of Taiwan and East Turkistan.
