International East Turkistan NGOs Union elects new executive board

The International East Turkistan NGOs Union held a meeting in Istanbul and elected its new president and board members.

At the general assembly meeting held on August 2, 2025, in Sefaköy, Istanbul, the Union elected its new president and board members.

Fifty representatives and members from the Union’s member organizations attended the meeting. The meeting proceeded successfully according to the planned agenda.

During the meeting, the Union’s interim president, Nurmuhammed Türkistani, presented a comprehensive report on the activities carried out to date. After the report, an election committee was formed with the approval of the representatives. Once the committee explained the election rules, voting was held to elect the board members.

As a result of the election, a new nine-member executive board was chosen by majority vote. Nurmuhammed Türkistani, who had been serving as interim president, was officially elected president. Obukkasım Zerepşan and Musacan Er were elected as vice presidents.

Zikrullah Alim was appointed general secretary, Nizamiddin Temkini took charge of financial affairs, and Münevver Özuygur was assigned responsibility for women’s and family affairs. Ibrahim Yusuf, attending from Sweden, was elected as the Union’s European representative, while Abduselam Taklamakan and Merdan Uygur were elected as board members.

An announcement on the Union’s official social media account stated that the new executive board, led by President Nurmuhammed Türkistani, officially began its duties on August 4, 2025. The statement emphasized the Union’s goal to continue its activities more effectively and in a coordinated manner under the new administration.
