Canada’s decision to resettle 10,000 Uyghur refugees in the country has begun to yield tangible results. Many Uyghurs who have been left without state protection are now being gradually relocated to Canada.

A Uyghur organization has called on the Canadian government to officially recognize and denounce the Uyghur genocide, and to acknowledge East Turkistan as a territory under Chinese colonial rule.

The first Uyghur refugee has arrived in Canada under an effort to resettle Uyghurs and other ethnic groups persecuted by China.
