Uyghur representatives brought attention to China’s ongoing genocide in East Turkistan during an International Religious Freedom roundtable held at the U.S. Capitol.
Rushan Abbas, Chairwoman of the World Uyghur Congress Executive Committee, Executive Director of Campaign for Uyghurs (CFU); Abdulhakim Idris, Executive Director of the Center for Uyghur Studies; and Sabrina Sohail, Director of Advocacy and Communications at CFU, attended the roundtable meeting hosted by the International Religious Freedom (IRF) Platform and the U.S. Government on April 23, 2025.
In his remarks, Abdulhakim Idris highlighted the Chinese Communist Party’s ongoing genocide and atrocities against the Uyghur people, including the confiscation of Uyghurs’ wealth, forced labor, and the systematic separation of Uyghur children from their families and placing them into state-run boarding schools.
